Company History

1950	Company founded.
1957	First coach tour catalogue appears; travel agency opens in Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg.
1963	GLOBE-TROTTER-REISEN receives its first award in Nice for organisation, visual appeal and comfort.
1964	GLOBETROTTER becomes the first German coach tour operator to have a presence in the Balkans.
1968	GLOBETROTTER opens an office in Hanover.
1969	A new branch opens in Hamburg-Barmbek.
1970	First German coach in Moscow: a GLOBETROTTER Pullman.
1972	First German operator to have its own coach on the Nile; another office opens in Hamburg-Harburg.
1973	Office opens in Hamburg-Hoheluft.
1974-1982	Further pioneering achievements in the area of educational trips; rapid expansion of our travel offers.
1983	Change at the top: Founder Günter Meyer hands over directorship to Heinz Goy.
1984-1988	Range of available educational trips is extended; first move into the flights market. Long-haul destinations feature in the Globetrotter travel catalogue for the first time.
1989	Consistent development of our independent sales network of travel agencies and telephone booking facilities. 15 independent offices are now managed by newly founded Globetrotter-Reisebüro GmbH.
Since 1991	Introduction of new features: holidays for the independent traveller, company outings and our corporate service. Tour operator GLOBETROTTER-REISEN concentrates on high quality travel offers.
Since 1992	A core team of highly qualified expert couriers, coupled with marketing aimed at the right target groups, ensure the success of the company.
1998	Globetrotter becomes the first German coach operator to field exclusively top-class (5-star) coaches.
2000-2003	In addition to the traditional subjects of history and culture, other theme start to have an ever greater influence over our programme. Examples include tours devoted to music, gardening, painting, good food, wine-growing and literature.
2003	Internet presence and online booking facility for Globetrotter travellers.
